STANDARD SERVICE - REMOVALS TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY

In the case of this service, the customer packs the items to be moved himself. Our firm can make an offer of packing material, or the customer can buy it for himself. The dismantling and reassembly of the furniture in the standard service is a routine matter for our company. We naturally take care of all Customs documents from A to Z. We send a specification of the vehicles of sufficient size and a detailed calculation of the price in the price estimate, which includes documents for Customs clearance after inspection of the goods to be moved.

 
COMPLETE SERVICE - OVERSEAS REMOVALS BY CONTAINER

 an inspection and price estimate are carried out for free 
 containers of sufficient size for the needs of the removals and shipping are ordered

Removals of this kind require a lot of packing material. The containers which are used for this type of transport

    (the production of these boxes is done by our firm)

COMPLETE SERVICE - WORKS OF ART TRANSPORTATION

 an inspection is carried out free of charge and an estimate drawn up 
 wooden cases are made and the atmosphere inside the case decided on 
    (STAHL produces these cases after agreement with the customer) 
 the exhibits are packed (depending on the type of exhibit - various 
    types of paper, paper-covered bubble-wrap, bubble-wrap,  
    corrugated paper, foam rubber, cardboard files for the production of various cases,
    special adhesive strips for glass, adhesive strips 
    for cardboard boxes, paper and bubble-wrap, etc).

HEAVY ITEMS TRANSPORTATION

We transport items of an individual weight of up to 800 kg (machines, safes, etc.). For the purposes of this work we use hydraulic undercarriages and hydraulic forklift trucks. We also move items weighing more than 800 kg, in which case careful preparation is required. The removal of such items must be thoroughly organised and co-ordinated in order that no injury occurs to an employee, damage to the items being moved, damage to walls, etc.

MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS TRANSPORTATION

We transport musical instruments of all kinds. We have been transporting musical instruments for the festivals Prague Spring and Prague Autumn. We also organise the transport of musical instruments for Czech Radio, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the agency PISKO and for individuals. We use special undercarriages for this work and specialised load-bearing tools.


LIBRARY COLLECTIONS REMOVALS

For moving library collections we use specially prepared trolleys, produced on the basis of the experience our company has acquired in practice.

Work procedure

A timetable of work is drawn up (number of bm a day)

    to use lifts in the building)

Loading of trolleys according to labels

ADVANTAGES OF USING THE TRANSPORT VEHICLES 

Our firm has already been using transport vehicles for 7 years. When we first came face to face with the requirements of moving library collections, there was no special technology or aids for moving such materials. At that time cardboard boxes were used for such purposes. This was demanding both from the point of view of time and finances. Another disadvantage was the labour intensity and physical demands of moving book collections and, at the same time, an insufficient guarantee that the books would be maintained in the required order. Later wooden boxes with lids were used. This meant expensive cardboard boxes no longer had to be bought which lowered the costs of moving. However, the rest of the disadvantages remained.
After such experiences we came to the conclusion that this means of moving library collections was ineffective. Moreover, constant handling of the books could lead to their being damaged. The work was made more difficult by the limited access to the spaces of the storerooms in buildings without lifts, and archives and libraries.
We designed a special transport trolley. We produced several prototypes of these trolleys ourselves and tested them out in practice. 
Moving libraries entered a new sphere. Work which used to last 3 days was completed in one day with the help of these trolleys, using fewer employees and involving almost no physical effort. At present our firm owns 160 such transport trolleys, which it manufactures itself. 40 of them are designed for large volumes of a dimension of some 100x80 cm. In the case of poor accessibility or spaces without lifts we have created chutes which are mounted on the stairways and allow swift and easy movement around the stairs without any great physical strain. This solution is simple and cheap. The castors of the transport vehicles are made of rubber and have ball-bearing runners and thus do not mark floors and thus spoil their appearance. Distance is not a problem when using transport trolleys. The lengthy piling of books is a thing of the past. In this way we save our clients money. In the event of inclement weather we cover the trolleys with canvas

 
CLENAING OF LIBRARY COLLECTIONS 

Transport trolleys are also used in mechanical and chemical cleaning. The advantage is that the books do not have to be cleaned directly in the libraries but in a restricted area more suitable for such purposes. Another advantage is that the books can be selected from the trolleys gradually and cleaned individually, and so the sequence of books is preserved. 
When cleaning books we use a vacuum cleaner by the Swedish firm LUX with maximum output, which is ideally suited to the cleaning of books and causes no damage. The books are also wiped with a special preparation. 
In the case of chemical cleaning the books are left in the transport trolleys and sprinkled with chemicals. We have great experience with both mechanical and chemical cleaning of library collections, a fact which is borne out by the references of our clients, e.g. the Jewish Museum in Prague and the National Library of Prague.
